If my iPod is charging is it ok to set the backlight to never turn off?

I recently purchased a iPod Car holder/FM Transmitter/Charger and I was wondering if it’s charging or plugged in if it would have the same effect on the life span of the battery.

I’ve read so much about how the iPod’s battery has a certain life span and its recommended that you use low lighting and stuff like that, I want to know if this is the same for when the iPod is plugged in.
