Sony Xplod car stereo with ipod connector?

When i hook up my ipod nano to my cd stereo, i can’t select which songs i want through the screen on my ipod. i can only switch songs through the stereo face plate… so does anyone know how i can select my music by going through my ipod instead of selecting them through my stereo? please help!!!!

I have that.
I have an ipod touch.
What you need to do is make a playlist.
Then its easier to switch through songs.
This is what I do, I don’t even think you can ever use the ipod as the song switch.
